District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City to Launch 2 New Pedestrian Streets

The two streets will border Ban Nguyet (Crescent) Lake and Street 11N, and will feature a variety of food stalls. The opening of the two pedestrian streets is part of a program to boost nighttime economic growth and promote tourism in the city. Authorities in District 7 are responsible for ensuring food safety, fire prevention, environmental protection, and regular price checks in the two designated walkways. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade had previously suggested that the municipal People’s Committee develop a nighttime economy focused on tourism at three locations in District 7. As planned, a tourism, cultural, and pedestrian street will be established at the Crescent Lake – Anh Sao Bridge complex in the Phu My Hung residential area. Hanoi Celebrates its Status as a Creative City with Vietnamese-Korean Tug-of-War Competition

The Festival of Tug-of-War Rituals and Games took place on November 17-18 at the Hanoi Museum and Tran Vu Temple in Long Bien District, Hanoi. The event attracted nearly 500 artisans from Bac Ninh, Lao Cai, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, and Dangjin City (Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea). Entitled “One Rope, One Community,” the festival was the first of its kind in Vietnam and aimed to foster connections and exchanges among communities practicing tug-of-war, which is recognized as a UNESCO heritage. On November 17, a discussion on tug-of-war heritage education was organized at the Hanoi Museum, with 50 delegates from the Gijisi Tug-of-War Association (Dangjin City, Korea) and Vietnamese experts. Displaying Rare Archival Photos of Sword Lake in the Late 19th Century

These exclusive images are currently on display at the “Sword Lake: East-West Intersection” exhibition at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Center until October 31. Over 100 documents, materials, photographs, design drawings, and planning maps offer a comprehensive view of Hanoi’s transformation from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. The documentary photos capture the landscape and daily life of Hanoi, evoking nostalgic memories of the past days at Hoan Kiem or Sword Lake. Sword Lake , which is the remaining part of the ancient Nhi Ha River, is a renowned landmark of the capital. It is surrounded by Hang Khay – Le Thai To – Dinh Tien Hoang streets.
