Vietnam to halt visa exemption policy for citizens from the EU and the UK

The UK and EU member nations will no longer enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam , according to a proposal submitted to the government by the country’s steering committee on COVID-19 fighting and prevention. Vietnam will also halt its visa exemption policy for citizens of other countries outside of the EU where over 500 cases have been reported or more than 50 new infections are recorded in a single day, according to the proposal. Foreigners who have symptoms of il lness or recent travel history to areas hit by a COVID-19 outbreak will be denied entry into Vietnam . The proposal was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam as he chaired a meeting for COVID-19 prevention in Hanoi on Sunday night. Citizens of Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Belarus currently enjoy visa-free travel to Vietnam until December 31, 2022. 2020 K-Pop Super Concert to wow Hanoi audiences next January

The event is co-organised by Voice of Vietnam – VOV, the RoK’s Sublime Entertainment Concert Company, and Vietnam ’s To&Ro Media Co. Ltd. The musical party will bring together a number of popular bands from the RoK, including EXO-SC, NCT 127, ELRIS, ACE, and Alphabat. Hue exhibition marks Party’s 90th founding anniversary

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed that in recent years, Vietnamese artists regularly participate in the art exchanges in the region and the world, bringing positive effects, promoting exchanges, stimulating creativity and connecting Vietnamese art with the world. Art programme to welcome Lunar New Year’s Eve

Culture week introduces Vietnam’s land and people to Myanmar

The event was part of a series of Vietnamese events in Myanmar this year to realise the bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership and culture cooperation agreement for the 2017 – 2020 period signed by the two countries’ leaders. Winners of 2019 Youth Photography Festival honoured

The biennial festival is hosted by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for Vietnamese photographers who are aged between 18 and 35 years old, living both in and outside the country. It aims to encourage the creativity of young Vietnamese photographers nationwide while providing them with an opportunity to show their talent and gain experience from each other. Launched in March under the theme of ‘ Vietnam Today’, this year’s event received nearly 2,070 entries by 298 photographers in two categories, reality and experiment. The organising board selected 197 outstanding entries to display at the exhibition, with 21 of them being awarded, including two gold, four silver and six bronze medals along with nine consolation prizes. The Colours of Love

From the first community music project From an aspiring and romantic idea, Diversity Choir was formed in November 2019 under the initiative of the Institute of Social, Economic and Environmental Research (iSEE). This was the first community music project in Vietnam. Only a short time after the announcement, over 200 people registered for audition. They were needy people in the society, including teenagers, youths, the elderly, people with disabilities, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people, and domestic violence victims. The choir’s director and conductor, Nguyen Hai Yen, who is also Deputy Director of Sol Art Centre, has selected 70 members, aged from 7 to 74. All of them have not previously sung in any choirs. Nguyen Tran Khanh Van crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2019

Born in 1995, this beauty comes from Ho Chi Minh City. She overcame 44 other contestants across the country to secure the crown. With measurements of 83-60-90, she stands at 175 centimetres tall. This is the fourth edition of Miss Universe Vietnam since the first time held in 2008. The semi-final and final rounds of the contest have all been held in Nha Trang, the capital city of Khanh Hoa province. In the 2019 edition, the crown for the winner was entitled Brave Heart. Czech-Vietnamese encyclopaedia wins Dictionary of the Year award

The 120,000-headword bilingual encyclopaedia, co-authored by late Czech linguistic professor Ivo Vasiljev and Vietnamese engineer Nguyen Quyet Tien, was completed over 12 years. The complete collection of the Czech- Vietnamese encyclopedia was launched in the Czech Republic in July 2019. It aims to serve Vietnamese expats and Czech people who want to learn Vietnamese . Considered a bilingual encyclopaedia, it covers a wide range of subjects, including society, culture, history, biography and geography. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held during an international book fair in Prague on May 15. The encyclopaedia was also among eight works honoured at the 2019 award for literature by the Czech Writers’ Association in Prague in recognition for its significance to the country’s literature and culture.
