Rescue of Filipino Sailor by Vietnamese Crew

Nine Months of Investment Draws US$20 Billion to Vietnam

FDI inflows to Vietnam have reached over $20 billion in the first nine months of the year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency. This includes $10.23 billion from 2,254 newly registered projects, a rise of 66.3% in the number of projects and 43.6% in capital. In addition, $5.15 billion was added to 934 existing projects, and the value of capital contributions and share purchase deals reached over $4.82 billion. Despite a slight decrease in the growth rate, FDI disbursement saw positive signs, reaching over $15.9 billion, up 2.2% on-year. Experts attribute these positive signs to the Government’s effective solutions in supporting enterprises and removing difficulties to facilitate further FDI disbursement. They visited and worked with NGOs, think-tanks, a number of US government agencies; worked with the offices of US senators. They met and exchanged with some US friends of Vietnam ; worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington DC. and Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations. At the seminars, the delegation shared with organizations about the guidelines and policies of Vietnam in development issues, the socio-economic situation, the activities of the foreign NGOs and US NGOs particularly. Vietnam-Laos Cultural, Sport and Tourism Festival Held in Border Province

The northwestern province of Dien Bien is hosting a Vietnam -Laos cultural, sport and tourism festival from October 1-3, VNA reported. The festival, the third of its kind so far, has attracted the participation of ethnic artisans, artists and amateur athletes from 10 Vietnamese provinces bordering Laos, and 10 art troupes from Laos.
