Things Canadian Travelers Must Know Before Planning a Trip to Vietnam

While Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are the largest cities in Vietnam, the central region offers unique experiences that cannot be found elsewhere. Digital nomads from Vancouver often visit Da Nang, located in central Vietnam, during the winter season. This is not surprising given the city’s attractions and amenities. Many travelers prefer to visit Vietnam between March and April, as the rainfall is less frequent and the temperatures are milder during this time of the year. Vietnam has a number of popular sightseeing spots that should not be missed. In Hanoi, visitors can immerse themselves in the city’s rich art scene, explore historic temples, and indulge in local street food. The city also offers a mix of experiences, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the culture or enjoy a relaxing drink at a rooftop bar or a laid-back backpacker bar. Ha Long Bay is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Vietnam. The bay features over 1,500 islands and islets, with towering limesto...

The author stated that the first day of his trip saw him visit the Old Compass Café at 10 a.m. for Vietnamese coffee and banh mi op la, a hearty local dish combining a warm baguette with fried eggs and pate which all guests should sample.  Tourists should spend time travelling the southern city by motorbike or taxi, or pay a visit to the War Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace which are both popular destinations among foreign visitors. Famous places for foodies are also mentioned on Atkinson’s first day, including sampling vegetarian food for lunch at Vegetarian Cafe & Restaurant, drinking craft beer at the Heart of Darkness brewery, and tasting the cuisine of northern Vietnam at Quan Bui bistro. The second day of his trip saw the writer suggest that tourists seek out Ho Chi Minh City’s most interesting cafe scene amid a raffish 1960s apartment block which is situated along the pedestrians-only Nguyen Hue Boulevard. Exploring the Jade Emperor Pagoda, a site wh...

Image
Dinh Thi Hang, chairwoman of Son Mau Commune Women’s Union, is this woman. She helped locals fight against alcohol “ghost” in Dak Pao mountainous village. Village of alcoholics The path from the heart of Son Mau Commune to Dak Pao Village is as charming as a painting in the cool weather. Hills stretch to the horizon while local farmers are in the fields. Dak Pao is home to Ca Dong ethnic people. Hang said that several years ago, it was common to see drunken men lying next to their motorbikes on the streets in Dak Pao.  “Ca Dong people often drink, but in Dak Pao, they drink too much. They drink until they get drunk and fall. “Their health may not be good enough to work with the drinking habit. The number of alcoholic men was higher than the number of working men,” said Hang. Of course, the poverty in the village was the result of drinking. Figures showed this fact. The village had 50 households but half of them were poor. Every home had alcoholics. In some families, ...
