Carnival Ha Long 2023 slated for May 1

Carnival Ha Long is an annual cultural event that kicks-starts the summer tourism season in Ha Long City that is home to Ha Long Bay, a world heritage recognized twice by UNESCO.

This is the 15th year the carnival will be held to welcome visitors to come and discover the natural beauty, local culture, distinctive dishes and various tourism products in Ha Long.

The programme comprises the opening ceremony, art performances, street festivals and a low-range fireworks display.

Organisers plan to invite famous singers, dancers, beauty queens, professional actors, folk artisans and nearly 2,000 local artists to participate in the programme, said Nguyen Ngoc Son, deputy head of the Ha Long City administration cum deputy head of the organizing board.

The goal of the city is to promote the image of Ha Long Bay, a world natural heritage recognized by UNESCO 29 years ago, and to popularize the Carnival Ha Long brand in its 15th year, he added.

The carnival 2023 takes place at a time when Vietnamese people will enjoy a five-day break to celebrate National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1), starting on April 29.

On this occasion, Ha Long will organize a series of activities such as Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival, a festival of modern dance groups, a kite flying festival, and other sport games.

Ha Long City aims to receive 8.6 million local and foreign visitors this year.
