2023 Milky Way Photographer of the Year Contest: Stunning Photos

The collection features 25 photos of the Milky Way taken from 16 countries around the world. The final selection was chosen from over 3,000 applicants. Many of the photos were taken in unique and remote locations where the Milky Way had not been photographed before. Examples include Socotra, a remote island in the Indian Ocean, and Madagascar, where the photographer had to photograph with armed guards. Other locations include a remote area in Spain called Serrania de Cuenca, as well as Namibia and New Zealand. The photos showcase stunning landscapes such as deserts, mountains, glaciers, and beaches, with the Milky Way shining in the sky. Some notable photos include “The bottle tree portal” by Benjamin Barakat, “Cafayate star factory” by Gonzalo Javier Santile, “The Cactus Valley” by Pablo Ruiz Gracía, “The Eyes of the Universe” by Mihail Minkov, “Alien Forest” by Marcin Zajac, “Night under the Baobab Trees” by Steffi Lieberman, “The Scenery I Wanted to See” by Mitsuhiro Okabe, “Winter’s Airglow” by Larryn Grae, “Wind River Nights” by Brandt Ryder, “The Night Train” by Alexander Forst, “The La Palma Astroexperience” by Jakob Sahner, and “Shapes of Nature” by Uroš Fink. The photos capture the beauty and wonder of the night sky, offering viewers a glimpse into the breathtaking beauty of the Milky Way.

Vietnam defeat Laos 2-0 in 2023 SE Asian Games men’s football

The Vietnamese, who won the gold medal in men’s football at the delayed 2021 SE Asian Games organized in Hanoi in May 2022, were expected to have an easy game, but they faced strong resistance from their Lao opponents and sometimes stayed in a deadlock at Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh. The junior Golden Stars got off to a great start in the second minute when Nguyen Van Tung headed the ball past Lao goalkeeper Solasak Thilavong into the net, following a good cross from Nguyen Thanh Nhan from the right side.
